GlenGatesSmall[1]Today, Mark Matheson, CEO, announced the addition of Glen Gates as Division President with Matheson’s Flight Extenders Division. Gates has over 30 years of experience primarily related to air cargo and airline operations.   He brings a variety of skills to Matheson including familiarity with international and domestic freight forwarding; passenger and cargo charter in domestic, international and military environments; fleet planning; ramp and terminal operations; and trans-border services for large aircraft. In addition, Gates spent 2 years with the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Washington DC where he designed the e-commerce system/digital communications/ performance measurement and financial control applications. He also developed the strategic business plans and corporate aircraft operations objectives for shared and peak season air networks.

Mr. Matheson stated that the addition of Gates is intended to fortify the entire Matheson senior management team. Gates will oversee the growth and diversification of all businesses under the Flight Extenders’ umbrella. In addition to existing Terminal Handling contracts, this includes expanding USPS consolidation/deconsolidation contracts, identifying opportunities to provide airline ground handling services, building relationships with air carriers in an effort to develop additional revenue opportunities and other ventures that are consistent with Matheson’s long-term strategy.

Matheson Flight Extenders, Inc. awarded international contract with Asiana Airlines Inc.
Matheson, a family owned transportation, environmental and airport services company with its headquarters in Sacramento, CA , announces a leap into the International arena with its recent award by Asiana Airlines to provide import/export warehousing and aircraft ground handling at Matheson’s Portland, Oregon facility. Asiana Airlines Inc. will initiate service with a 3 flight per week 747-400 schedule. The inaugural flight will arrive into Portland on Friday, September 2, 2011. The City of Portland will host a gala event celebrating the commencement of operations on September 9th.
Matheson Flight Extenders Inc. is the largest airport terminal handling provider for the USPS with 18 locations nationwide.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) selects Matheson Flight Extenders and Matheson Postal Services as combined winners of the 2007 Supplier Performance Award.

Matheson was nominated by postal professionals for our performance on contracts to transport mail, and provide terminal handling and ground support services. This helped the Postal Service benefit from supply chain management best practices during 2007. Supply chain management efforts have been very successful in providing positive bottom line and performance results that ultimately help the Postal Service more effectively achieve its mission of providing mail service to the American public.

The 2007 Supplier Performance Awards Ceremony and Reception was held on April 22, 2008 in Washington, D.C.

Postmaster General John Potter and Supply Management Vice President Susan Brownell presented the award to Mark Matheson.
